No hot water, not enough hot water, a rumbling tank, rusty hot water or a puddle under the heater: each one points to a different cause. Some are a repair. A tank that leaks from the body is a replacement.
What we do
- Repair gas and electric tank water heaters: burners, thermostats, elements, gas controls and relief valves
- Replace water heaters, sized to the household and the number of bathrooms
- New gas water heaters when a house switches from oil to gas, with the gas piping to them
- Check heaters and gas appliances that sat in flood water before they're used again
What we don't do
- Oil boiler repair. When an oil boiler also makes the hot water, we can replace the hot-water side with a standalone water heater, but we don't repair oil burners.
- Oil delivery, vent cleaning or duct cleaning
How it works
- Find out why. A gas heater that won't stay lit, an electric heater with a failed element, and a tank full of sediment all look like "no hot water."
- Repair or replace. If the tank itself is leaking, it has to be replaced. Otherwise we tell you what part failed.
- Size the replacement. We size a new heater to how many people use it and how many bathrooms you have, not just to the label on the old one.
Long Island water and your heater
The public water systems we've checked pump from deep wells in the Magothy aquifer, and the water is soft. Freeport's 2025 report shows total hardness of only 6.4 to 7.3 mg/L, the Village of Hempstead's 26.2 to 32.0, and the Hicksville Water District's 22.6 to 67.4. Soft water doesn't leave heavy scale, but the raw groundwater is often acidic: the Suffolk County Water Authority says its groundwater runs pH 4.5 to 6.8 and adds lime to protect household plumbing. Iron and sediment are what we see more often in tanks here.
Heating fuel matters too. In Levittown, 73% of homes still heat with oil, according to the Census Bureau's latest five-year survey, and in East Meadow 53%. In an oil-heated house, hot water often comes from the boiler, so an oil-to-gas switch usually means a new water heater and new gas piping.
